Appropriating Structure:
Book Jackets

By recognizing, translating, and synthesizing structure into design using point, line, and plane, I explored variation and the impact of visible versus invisible structure. I chose three distinct images from my environment consisting of natural and man-made objects. By pulling elements of the different observed images and treating them in the same manner, I was able to create three distinct appropriated images that when combined with a similar typographic system created a unified book jacket series.
