Waterfire Providence poster
I created a concrete typographic poster for Barnaby Evan’s WaterFire Providence based on my interpretation of The Red Violin, composed by John Corrigliano and performed by Joshua Bell and the Philharmonic Orchestra. The Red Violin is one of the numerous songs played during a full-lighting of WaterFire. The music evokes an ethereal longing and great sadness. The violin sings feverishly and twists and turns, intertwining with itself. To recreate this feeling, I printed a quote about WaterFire from Barnaby Evans on a clear acetate strip. After twisting and intertwining the type on itself, I captured the image of the type and brought it into a digital platform. I was then able to extract the type to use it as image for the WaterFire poster.
